The fourth project for Flatiron is a single page application with a rails backend and an object oriented javascript and HTML frontend. My project is a Dungeons and Dragons character generator, using the rules of the Dungeons and Dragons handbook to generate ability scores and modifiers, along with other class/race/background specific information.
My Ruby on Rails project is an idea where people post fun locations or events in their town, and other people can search places they want to go and see the events posted by people, add them to their list of events, and rate them. Rails is a framework in the Ruby language that streamlines the development of web applications. Rails does a lot of the work for the developer. For example, Rails can generate parts of the MVC model with simple commands in the terminal.
The second project utilizes the Sinatra framework, which provides libraries and structure to help in the development of dynamic websites or web applications. Sinatra gives an easy way to make websites and routes using their structure.
Math and science have always been passions of mine. It is important to me to have a career in a field that I am interested in, is challenging, and is always is expanding my knowledge. I received my undergraduate degree in chemistry because I love learning about chemistry. All of my jobs since graduating have been in a laboratory setting, initially for the food industry and then for a water treatment facility to clean up oil and gas wastewater for reuse and recycle.
